Director, Geology, Geological Survey of India has made an important
contribution in applying geochemical considerations and metallogenetic
interpretations for the exploration of base metal, gold,
lithium-tungsten and mica in Rajasthan. His recognition of felsic
volcanic rocks in South Delhi Fold Belt is an important milestone which
paved the way for understanding the evolutionary history including the
contrasting metallogeny in felsic and mafic rocks in this belt.
In recognition of his
significant contribution in the field of Geochemistry as applied to
earth sciences. Dr. J Bhattacharjee is conferred the National Minerals
Award for 1992-1993. He shares the award with his co-workers Dr. P. R.
