RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS

Immediately after passing M.Sc. in 1975 with second position, Dr. Prakash Kataria started working as UGC research fellow on a problem "Petromineralogical studies of rocks around Amet" for the award of Ph.D. degree. More than five years of rigorous field and laboratory (Geology Department, AMD, Hyderabad; GSI, Jaipur; HZ Ltd., and DMG, Udaipur) work led to award of Ph.D. in 1981. Marble was one of very important lithounits amongst various other studies. The marble industry has seen its upsurge since 1980, and it is needless to mention its socio-economic importance in south central Rajasthan.
In 1982 Dr. Kataria was selected for award of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) fellowship by UGC and DAAD authorities. During post-doctoral work (1983-85) in Germany he carried out advance research work on rocks of Amet and the same was published in national and international journals.
During the nineties he was Co-P\ in two DST sponsored research projects and the results of these have given significant geological inputs to the Deep Seismic Sounding profile line and understanding of Archaean Proterozoic Boundary problem in south central Rajasthan. In addition to this, publications on komatiite and pseudotachylyte rocks would have far reaching consequences on the precambrian geology of this region.
