RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS

Securing Ist Position in order of Merit & recipient of Gold Medal in M.Sc. Geology Degree, Dr. N.K. Chauhan joined the teaching profession, Ph.D. work was started on a problem, "Geology and Structure of the area around Bagdunda, Udaipur, Rajasthan". The major contribution of research resulted to point out no major structural discordance between the Aravalli and BGC existence in this region. The Delhi Group of rocks have no sign of F1 folds as observed in Aravalli rocks and F2 folds are penetrative structure through BGC, Aravalli & the Delhi Supergroup. The geochemistry of rocks specified the difference in ortho- and para-amphibolites. The deformation, metamorphism and strain measurements by fold profiles and early curved lineations (Extrodus & Introdus), along with the mechanism and shape of folds are reported from the deep water facies of Aravallis. The reporting and mapping of Bagdunda outlier and schistosity dome in the deep water facies is a major contribution to Precambrian Stratigraphy of SDFB. The inter-relationship of metamorphism and deformation with help of 'Si' & 'Se'; new mineral assemblages in amphibolites and development of porphyroblasts ina new direction other than existing one have been reported from deep water facies of Aravalli Formations from a very remote, complicated outcrop pattern and rugged terrain of SDFB. Further attempts have been made to study the Geological control on Ground Water degradation in Aravalli-Delhi fold belt.
Under the Major DST sponsor research Project (Co-PI for the Project) the deformation and strain pat[ern's of Early Proterozoic conglomerate pebbles from two different clasts-matrix system have been reported.  Since 1977 a detailed structural and geological mapping training program is being successfully completed for Post Graduate students of the Department and students from the other universities are also trained for Mapping & Geological work in SDFB which being the Major contribution towards the field geology.
