Other Facilities:-  The Department has its own Independent building; foundation stone of which was laid on 28th October 1958 by Dr. C. D. Deshmukh, Chairman, University Grants Commission. The Department shifted from Maharana Bhupal College to the present building in October 1962. The logo on our department's building, constructed in late 1950s has inscription to the effect that it is "University Department of Geology, Udaipur". A very foresighted nomenclature for a department that was established as a unit of the "Rajputana University", which was renamed as the "University of Rajasthan" in the year 1957.

The department was transferred to the "M. L. Sukhadia University" in the year 1988; this university was earlier named as the "University of Udaipur". All through these changes the letters in the logo did not lose their relevance. The Department has a very well stocked and popular Geology Museum that was named Rode Museum in honor of the founder Professor K. P. Rode in 1975 at the time of Silver Jubilee of the department. Most of the events in the Department were held in the hall at the first floor which was formally christened Heron Hall, on 28th October 1975 by Shri V. K. S. Vardhan, Director General, Geological Survey of India. Subsequently in the year 1981, a new well-furnished 125-seated Auditorium -the Aravalli Auditorium, was added on the ground floor.

Library :- Department has its own library having books, and important foreign and Indian journals. In the early period of its history the Publication of" Rajasthan University Studies in Science -Geology Section" was started that enabled it to establish free exchange of publications with many foreign institutions. During the past five decades the library grew to its present status having 5809 books, 30 subscribed journals, 09 magazines and 11 newspapers. Several Cps and Internet connection has made it favorite with students and research scholars.

Section Cutting :- Department has a well-equipped section cutting laboratory that is being run and maintained by skilled technicians. Several institutions have sent their staff to be trained as section cutters in our section-cutting laboratory.

Vehicles :- Prof. Rode laid emphasis on field training of students through week-end excursions and field training programs for which a bus was purchased, subsequently a new 35-seated TATA bus replaced the old BEDFORD bus. A jeep was added under SAP Phase-I for the fieldwork of the faculty.

Work Shop :- Departmental workshop has several machines and workshop staff to look after our day-to-day maintenance of microscopes, minor equipment and our estate.
